A tasteful experience: Adding texture to drinks

Raising The Bar

With the beverage industry rapidly transforming into an experiential-based landscape, drinks have similarly transcended easier, idyllic recipes into menu offerings that encapsulate all of its consumers’ senses. Going beyond contemporary or thematic bar ambiences and fantastical drink executions, the elevation of drink creations has become a necessary factor in serving this purpose. While the resurgence of classic techniques remains popular, the expansion of consumers’ vocabularies and understanding of taste now demands the adoption of contemporary additions. From fusing contrasting flavours to infusing new ingredients, the beverage scene has seen a meticulous boost in the complexity of its curations. Amongst these methods, a simple but significant way to supplement offerings is becoming increasingly common: by adding a bite to their beverages.

Fresh In Flavours

Apart from the age-old debate about pulp in fruit juices, the inclusion of unblended and unprocessed fruit has become an innovative measure to intensify a drink’s overall flavour. Introducing these fruits’ refreshing notes effectively cuts through richer drink flavours, while adeptly infusing their health benefits in an artfully appetising manner. To further amplify this tactic, the addition of fruits with seeds left intact – such as those found in passion fruits, dragonfruits and pomegranates – serve to add a layered complexity, increasing both the drink’s viscosity levels and overall flavour palette. Paired with mellow refreshments, these ingredients supply your final recipe with a varied mix, elevating the consumption experience. For ideas on picking the perfect drink texture, here are some textured treats to try your hand at.
